Patio Garden Furniture
By admin | January 8, 2008
The patio of your home is an extension of the rooms and design of your house, and therefore – in many ways – it needs the right kind of garden furniture to complement your home. Because it is outside, choosing the right kind of furniture will allow for the entire home to feel as if it has a certain natural, openness about it. The idea is to let the outside in. Patio garden furniture does this for you, but it is important that you choose the right style and kind. Patio furniture comes in the form of tables and chairs, but adding an outside couch or even a bench on your patio does wonders for your décor and quality of living. This is when you can enjoy your home from the outside. Here are the different styles of furniture recommended for your garden patio.
Teak
Teak is a wonderful choice due to it’s durability and alluring style. It is the most durable kind of wood there is, and has a magnificent light atmospheric quality to it. If you allow Teak to weather (leaving it unfinished) it will weather to a beautiful light gray, and lasts for a lifetime. Teak does not rot, crack or warp, and is resistant to insect damage. The adironrack style in Teak is perfect for the patio – a wide board, low slung sort of style, which adds warmth and a fabulous ‘homey’ feel.
Wicker and Rattan
Wicker is still a classic style, and by adding some big puffy comfortable cushions a wicker couch can make the perfect afternoon nap on the patio. Wicker patio furniture comes in many different styles, namely elegant or casual, and your choice will depend on the style of your home and your personal preference. Wicker furniture is also water and UV Resistant, meaning that it can take on the elements nicely and stay outside all year around. It is also very light-weight, and will consistently add tremendous flavor to your home and décor.
Aluminium Furniture
Aluminium furniture is sturdy, light-weight and increasingly popular. Cast Aluminium Furniture will not rust, and has the timeless quality of wrought iron furniture. With intricate and elegant styles, aliminium is a great choice, and will be very comfortable with some cushions to match. Aluminium furniture can also be moved around to different parts of the garden to suit the season, and add a classic charm to your home and patio.
Hardwood
Hardwood furniture comes in different sorts of wood – namely, Kapar, Acacia or Alder (a hardwood like birch or cherry.) Hardwood’s austere style adds taste to any patio, and can give it a comfortable ’summery’ feel all year round. Much of wood furniture can come unfinished – which is quite classy, with a natural beauty – or can be painted to add some color to your patio.
Textoline
Textoline is an incredibly hard-wearing material that is tough and requires no maintenance. With some added cushions, it can add relaxation to your patio.
Whatever choice of patio furniture, be sure to add some high quality cushions that are preferably water resistant and able to handle the environment as well as the furniture can.
