Getting Your Clothes Dry Can Be A Nightmare
By admin | June 30, 2008
Getting your clothes dry can be a nightmare, especially when it always seems to rain on laundry day. Even if you have a tumble dryer, there are still times when you need extra help to get all of your items dried in a timely fashion. There are also a lot of materials that can not be tumble dried, such as silk and wool and many more that will simply not fit into your tumble drier. So, what is the answer? Well, a clothes horse can offer the perfect solution.
Clothes horses are collapsible drying frames that can be installed in any room in your house. They are available in a variety of sizes to fit into any available space. The majority are designed to be free-standing on the floor, but radiator mounted ones are also popular. The beauty of the radiator mounted clothes horses is that they hang from your radiator and enable you to take advantage of the radiator’s heat to speed up the drying and airing process. These are ideal for people who live in flats or other small houses where space is at a premium. Another style of clothes horses that is perfect for people who have a limited amount of floor space available is a wall or door mounted one. These fold up flat against the surface when not in use.
The most basic types of clothes horses fold flat for easy storage when not in use, and can be erected in a matter of seconds. Many have a number of different height settings that allow you to accommodate different sizes of items for drying. At the lower setting you have a larger drying area which is suitable for hanging a lot of smaller items, such as underwear. At its full height the clothes horse can cater for towels or bedding and enables them to be spread out over the frame to speed up the drying.
Many clothing items specify that they need to be dried flat. This can be difficult, unless you have an airing cupboard, but clothes horses have been designed with this in mind. Some clothes horses have shelves that fold out to allow you to place items on for drying whilst keeping them flat. Clothes horses are normally used indoors, but they can also be placed outside to take advantage of any fine weather. To maximize the amount of space available on your clothes horse you can also hang items on coat hangers from the bars. This is the perfect solution if you have a lot of laundry, but no drying line available.
Clothes horses are an inexpensive alternative to tumble driers. They also offer the added benefit that you can easily remove single items as they dry. You can see at a glance which pieces are nearly dry and don’t need to rifle through an entire tumble drier load. This makes ironing far simpler too. Tumble driers often over dry clothes and make removing the creases much more difficult. If you use a clothes horse you can take off the clothes before they are fully dry and be able to iron them much more easily.
