By admin | June 11, 2008
There was always a time in the past, when gazebos were only purchased by those people who could afford to spend a considerable amount of money. But nowadays, you do not need to be upper class in order to have the beauty of a gazebo in your garden. Garden gazebos have become widely available in various styles and sizes, at a very affordable price. Whatever size area you have to dedicate your gazebo building project, you can be certain to find the right size and style to fit your personal and landscape needs.
However, in order to choose the correct style and size, it is important before choosing a gazebo, to know exactly what the main purpose of it will be. Will you be using it for barbeque shelter or maybe to shelter a hot tub or spa. You do not want to purchase a gazebo for this purpose and discover that it is not quite big enough when it is built.
Gazebos come in different materials. You can choose a gazebo in wood, aluminum or concrete/brick. All of these forms of material will hold up well in harsh weather. If you choose to have a wooden or aluminum gazebo, then be sure that it has a sturdy base and top and that it has been weather-proof treated. The best design would be one with a completely closed top.
Gazebos can turn a plain garden into something spectacular with a lavish gazebo centre piece. Whether it be for a quiet place to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or for entertaining purposes. For many years, gazebos have been used for teahouses, summerhouses and kiosks.
It is your decision which design you choose to have. If you are using it for outdoor entertaining and cooking, then you may want to install a fire pit of brick barbeque. Or if you want your gazebo to be placed close to your pool area, then it may be a good idea to add special lighting or even a privacy screen. It is possible to add doors and windows to a gazebo, turning it into a guest changing area or pool house.
When considering the position of your garden gazebo, it is important to keep in mind whether you have high winds in that particular area. Also if you are planning on placing plants and shrubs close to your gazebo, is the location appropriate. One possibility when choosing the position of your garden gazebo may be to add electricity or plumbing.
It is possible to purchase a gazebo that is already erected from any leading gazebo company. Or, because of the increasing popularity of gazebos, you can have your own design made. However, if choosing your own design, make some plans and pictures to be sure that you get exactly what you want. You can choose to have your favorite roof design, floor, lighting, steps if you choose a raised gazebo, railings, doors or gates etc. The list really is endless.
One important thing to remember when building a gazebo is that, it may be necessary, on certain properties to get planning permission or a building permit. So be sure to do your homework before you choose your perfect garden gazebo.
