Garden Cushions
By admin | November 20, 2007
If you have ever had the opportunity to sit on a hard bench or chair for a long time period, you know that you will soon begin to feel quite uncomfortable. Because of this fact, many people now buy patio furniture cushions to accent their outdoor furniture. It is true that patio furniture cushions are not all the same, so it is important that you know what you are looking for before you decide to make a purchase.
The first thing you need to know when you start shopping for garden cushions is how many you will need and what sizes they have to be. For example, you may need two garden cushions for two benches. However, not all benches are the exact same size. You need to properly measure the benches to make sure that the garden cushions you purchase will fit each bench properly. This rule applies to all of your outdoor furniture.
Once you know the number and size of the garden cushion you must buy, it is time to decide what color would be best. The choice of garden cushion colors is almost limitless. There are blues, reds, neutrals, green and many more. Be sure that you choose a color that will not only compliment you home but your patio furniture as well.
Now you have three questions answered – number, size and color. Now you have to determine the type of fabric you want the garden cushions to be made from.
You are dead wrong if you think one fabric is no different from another. Some fabrics fade easier, stain easier and some as not as water resistant as others. Cotton canvas used to be a most popular fabric for garden cushions. Today, this is being replaced by Sunbrella which is an acrylic fabric. The reason for the replacement is that Sunbrella does not fade like the cotton canvas does and it is more resistant to mold.
If your outdoor furniture has plush cushions, then they may have to be updated or covered every year depending on how much wear and tear is sustained. Cushions are available today in a vast array of colors, styles and prices that will accommodate just about any type of outdoor furniture you can think of – wood, metal, wick and polypropylene. If you would like to experience a tropical mood to your backyard or patio, you can choose garden cushion that have Hawaiian prints or even palm trees.
A great deal of comfort can be added to hammocks, chairs and chaise lounges when you have properly fitted and placed cushions on them. You can either lay back and read, or you can enjoy some freshly squeezed lemonade with family and friends. Cushions are the perfect choice for hardwood outdoor furniture as well as plastic and aluminum. These three types of furniture would not be comfortable for very long if you were sitting on them without soft cushions.
