Garden Barbecues
By admin | July 24, 2008
The actual word barbecue means “large wooden or iron framework for smoking or broiling” or “an open air party at which animals are roasted whole”. Modern barbecues developed in the United States in the early 1700s bit it was not until the 1950s that America went barbecue crazy. It was also at about this same time that men were emancipated from culinary obscurity and became King of the backyard feast. as men typically pursue anything with gadgetry or gizmo, the barbecue market has responded by manufacturing a barbecue suitable for any wallet or appetite, confirming what we have known all along… men are mad about fire.
There is a wide variety of barbecues available in different sizes and shapes to suit the needs of yourself, your garden and your storage space. Personally, I prefer barbecues that can be moved out of the rain or out of the way when they are not needed. Built in barbecues can look very sad and abandoned when they are not in use.
Barbecue Bonanza
Disposable Barbecues - If you are a barbecue novice you could try a disposable model that you can buy in any supermarket. It offers a no frills approach for no frills food but it is quick and cheap and theres no clearing up afterwards.
Portable Barbecues - You could go up in the world with this sexy beast. They look good and with care can give great results.
Mountain Smokers - The smooth clean lines disguise a fiery animal waiting to get out. They work by heating water to boiling then the steam mixes with woodsmoke to give a unique flavour.
