Garden Furniture Sets

Why have a garden if you can't sit in it? You can fill up your garden with all sorts of exotic trees and plants and it still won't be complete without just the right garden set for your family. A garden set is a perfect venue for tea or breakfast, picnics and barbecues and for entertaining guests.

When choosing a garden set, you must take into consideration the climate of your hometown. Whether tropical or harshly cool, your garden set will most likely spend all its time outdoors. Even if you intend to keep your garden set in a roofed patio, it is still vulnerable to the elements.

If you opt for metal garden sets, go for cast aluminum garden sets. Cast aluminum is quite sturdy, and tenacious against corrosion and rust. Aluminum mesh chairs are very comfortable garden pieces, being lightweight and airy.

Wood makes for pretty garden furniture, however, we must be even more careful about climate conditions. Even if there is very little rain where you live, harsh winds and humid air can damage and warp most wood furniture, which is why wood furniture is not ideal for gardens. But there are particular kinds of wood that can stand up to any kind of weather.

Choose hardbodied wood like acacia or kapur. These tropical woods make long lasting furniture that survives any turn in the weather. Teak is also a good wood to use for garden furniture, although a bit costlier than acacia or kapur. The oily character of the dense wood makes it ideal against dampness and humidity, and is often considered the best kind of wood for garden furniture.

Another adorable quality of wooden furniture is that garden chairs can be foldable. Foldable wooden chairs are comfortable, as they're flexible and readily accommodate the user, and are easily transported and stored. Wooden steamer chairs, chaise lounges and garden benches are also quite comfortable.

Many furniture companies have begun investing in their own orchards and plantations for these trees, even in countries far away - acacia is not easily grown in cold climates such as in Europe. Building their own plantations is their way of replenishing forests that are in danger of extinction only to supply homes with good furniture.

Rattan garden sets are also lovely to use; rattan is treated before woven into furniture and is therefore ideal for outdoor use. There is also the non-natural variety of wicker furniture, with polymers appearing as if it were the real thing, yet a lot sturdier. And, of course, the pretty weaves in wicker furniture adds a certain charm to any garden.

Cushions and pillows especially fitted for garden furniture are always available and make garden lounging even more pleasurable on cool afternoons. Just remember to bring them in for rainy seasons and on those rare cloudy days in the summer. Another accent to your garden set that would look great, whatever the weather, is a big garden umbrella. Some garden set tables already come with an umbrella attached, but you can also buy the parasol seperately.
